1. Purpose

This Driver Delivery Policy explains the terms and conditions for Drivers who use the Canada Halal Marketplace (CHMP) platform to provide local delivery services.

CHMP is committed to providing customers with convenient delivery services while offering Drivers fair, transparent, and competitive compensation.

2. Types of Delivery Services

Drivers may accept different types of delivery requests through the CHMP platform, including:

Restaurant and Food Delivery

  • Restaurant meals
  • Halal food
  • Prepared meals
  • Catering orders
  • Other eligible food orders

Grocery Shopping and Delivery

  • Halal groceries
  • General grocery items
  • Fresh produce
  • Household essentials
  • Other eligible grocery products

Drivers may be required to shop for items on behalf of customers and deliver the completed order.

Grocery Pickup and Delivery

Drivers may pick up prepared grocery orders from participating grocery stores or halal grocery stores and deliver them to customers.

Marketplace Delivery

Drivers may pick up eligible products purchased through the CHMP marketplace and deliver them locally to customers.

Other Local Delivery Services

CHMP may introduce additional local delivery services in the future, subject to applicable laws, regulations, insurance requirements, and CHMP policies.

3. Driver Eligibility

Before being approved as a CHMP Driver, Drivers may be required to provide documents and information required by CHMP and applicable law.

Depending on the delivery service, required documents may include:

  • Valid driver's licence
  • Proof of vehicle registration
  • Proof of valid vehicle insurance
  • Driver's abstract, where applicable
  • Background screening, where applicable
  • Proof of identity
  • Proof of eligibility to work in Canada, where legally required
  • Any other documentation required by applicable law or CHMP's insurance providers

Drivers must keep all required documents current and valid.

CHMP may require Drivers to update or resubmit documents when necessary.

4. Driver Status

The Driver's relationship with CHMP will be determined in accordance with applicable Alberta and Canadian laws.

Nothing in this Policy is intended to remove, restrict, or limit any rights or protections that the Driver may have under applicable law.

5. Driver Compensation

CHMP is committed to providing Drivers with clear and transparent compensation.

Driver compensation may include:

  • Base delivery payment
  • Distance-based compensation
  • Additional payment for multiple orders
  • Eligible waiting-time compensation
  • Cancellation compensation, where applicable
  • Customer tips
  • Promotional or incentive payments offered by CHMP

The applicable compensation may be displayed in the CHMP Driver App before or at the time the Driver accepts a delivery, where technically possible.

6. Minimum Delivery Payment

For each completed eligible delivery, the Driver will receive a minimum base delivery payment of $6.00, subject to the terms of this Policy and applicable law.

The $6.00 minimum applies to an individual completed delivery.

Additional compensation may apply depending on the delivery distance, order requirements, shopping requirements, and other applicable factors.

7. Distance-Based Compensation

Drivers may receive additional compensation for deliveries that exceed the standard distance included in the base delivery payment.

The proposed additional distance compensation is:

$0.75 per kilometre beyond the applicable included delivery distance.

The applicable distance may be calculated by the CHMP platform using the delivery route or another reasonable method.

CHMP may update the distance calculation method with reasonable notice.

8. Waiting-Time Compensation

When a Driver is required to wait at a restaurant, grocery store, marketplace seller, or other pickup location due to circumstances outside the Driver's control:

  • The first 5 minutes of waiting time are included in the delivery payment.
  • Eligible waiting time after the first 5 minutes will be compensated at $0.20 per minute, up to a reasonable maximum as determined by CHMP.
